That was very fun! :) 9:30-11 was setup, 11-1 I sold flowers (why I got chosen to do that is beyond me), but then the best part: 1-3 I made snow cones for lots of kids (with Amé's help!)! Haha I also took like a half hour break...that wasn't very smart but it was FUN cuz I dunked a friend in the dunk tank ;P
Haha we all got "Worker Bee" shirts :D

OH! MONDAY WILL BE AMAZING: Grade trip to Florida! We're going to lots of theme parks and doing FUN stuff! It's a creepy version of Alice in Wonderland with some comedy. It was so awesome to see my friends, who have been rehearsing for hours a day for the past month or two, finally perform. IT WAS AMAZING. I think I'm going back tonight to see it again. Everything really was that good: script, acting, costumes, makeup, set, casting, EVERYTHING. Pure magical genius.

UPDATE: I walked over a mile in the rain to see Alice again. I was too late, so I had to kill time outside for 45 minutes alone. I missed the first act, but the second was amazing. He had the best idea ever on a boring Saturday!

Part 1 - Give this stuff out:

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zOgkSmW0g8U/SVW6PmaxQsI/AAAAAAAAAFc/KaQj5Q__v58/s320/IMG_1627.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5284334514962776770" />

They're "Happy Holidays" cards with money inside :)

Part 2 - GIVE FREE HUGS DOWNTOWN ON THE MALL

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zOgkSmW0g8U/SVW6uTdOFeI/AAAAAAAAAFs/VvADjDmsOb4/s320/IMG_1632.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5284335042448725474" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_zOgkSmW0g8U/SVW7CmhY9oI/AAAAAAAAAF0/fqIuu9MFWYc/s320/IMG_1629.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5284335391163872898" />

Vaughn told me he got well over 80 hugs from complete strangers and ended up in quite a few pictures. At one point a group came and got a picture, and then some other guy gave him a hug. The guy then proceeded to move toward one of the tourist group members, so Vaughn quickly called out "HUGS ALL AROUND!" and so then everyone nearby, about 20 or 30 people, hugged each other. Simply amazing.

Later that night, while he was in Dupont Circle, a teenager approached him. He came up and introduced himself as Zack. Vaughn described him as looking nice and about 15 or 16. He told him that he'd had a big fight with his parents so he was running away. Zack asked about Dupont Circle at night. Vaughn told me he was thinking "No, not at all. It's cold, lonely, and dangerous." Zack asked if he knew a place where he could stay; Vaughn said he didn't. So he bought Zack dinner from Subway and called the St. Luke's Homeless Shelter to pick him up and take him somewhere warm.
SUCH A KIND, AWESOME BROTHER!

Let's see, how about now I talk about Christmas-ITWASAMAZING!

Christmas Eve:
Spanish family came over for most of the day, and my grandparents from Florida came up :)
I completely forgot how FUN AND COOL they are! So we spent most of the day with them. Then we went to a service at the church that Chloe (cousin, 14), Nicole (cousin, 6), and I all participated in a little. That was kind of fun...but the real fun was AFTER!

After the church service, all our family came back home and the cousins, Vaughn, and I played Rock Band for a little while. Then a nice young lady from church came and joined us for dinner. Then the church's master (lol, she knows everything and it's like her second home) came and joined us too! So we had 10 family members and 2 church members over for our EXCELLENT DINNER OF PANCAKES, my favorite food!! :D

CHRISTMAS:
Ah, Christmas. We (all family minus Spaniards, who are staying in my other gparents' house) all woke up and quickly wrapped all our gifts (heh, we fail, especially me :P). Then we went down and did our stockings, which is a big deal for my mother's side of the family. That was really fun. Then we had a light breakfast and proceeded to gifts. Originally, the Spaniards were going to join us but decided not to. So the 8 of us opened all our gifts. Here's a list of the wonderful things I got:

AN ELECTRIC GUITAR AND AN AMP! YEEEEEEEEEEES AMAZING AND UNEXPECTED
A nice shirt and pants
6 pairs of awesome socks
Portable iPod speakers
The World Ends With You (Nintendo DS game)
Electric razor :P
Assorted food/candy in stocking

Really good loot this year! (Heh..I love using the word loot - thanks to Calvin and Hobbes!) After presents, the Spaniards came, and we had our Christmas lunch (not dinner lol) with another church friend. Then we all went on a short walk! AFTER alll that, everyone went home except for the gparents, and I went upstairs and tuned my guitar and played around...

Today (well now it's yesterday):
Today my Uncle Mark, Chloe, Vaughn, and I went downtown to the National Geographic building (museum?). We went through a really cool whale exhibit and then took some NICE pictures in the courtyard-area. Check out my Facebook for those pictures and more. Then we went into Georgetown to let Chloe look in all the shops and plan for her trip down there with her mother (who has the shopping $$). THEN we all went to see Marley & Me, which was really good. But it was SAAAAD. So many people were crying, especially little Nicole. She just couldn't stop. Honestly, I almost did. Marley and Major are both labs, just Marley is white. But they looked alike! So it was VERY SAD to watch near the end. I had to bite down hard on my tongue. And I know anyone who doesn't know me would be tempted to say I'm soft, or weak, or whatever else, but you're wrong. If you've ever had a dog, or still have one, this will get you. I swear, you'd have to be heartless not to react at all. But anyway...good movie, even better book. Read the book then see the movie!

SO THAT'S BEEN MY LIFE FOR THE PAST TIME :D
I really don't have much to say except I really need to learn Spanish! I want to understand and speak to my family in Spanish! I REALLY DO! :)

MERRY TIME AFTER CHRISTMAS AND
HAPPY ALMOST SORT OF NEW YEAR!

Miniminimini post...ummmmmm except not at the end

This is really short. Because I don't feel like writing. So yeah.

Uh, school is good. I'm like 90-95% done with my personal project. The Personal Project Fair is one week from today. Then it's all over!

Break is at the end of next week ANDICANTWAIT but yeah.

Vaughn's coming down tonight. He's staying through after Christmas sometime.

I like pandas.

Uh uh uh...I'm making more friends? Life is going well. It's almost time to do our preliminary choices for the IB program next year. I'm just gonna explain that really quickly...

So Middle School, 9th, and 10th grades make up the Middle Years Program for the International Baccalaureate program (IB). 11th and 12th are the like the actual IB Program. So we have to pick our classes, which are divided into 6 groups:

Group 1 - First Language (Language A1)
English A1
Spanish A1
French A1
Dutch A1

This is your native language. For me it's English (haha well duh...)

Group 2 - Second Modern Language
French A2
Spanish A2
Dutch A2
English A2 (non-native speakers)

French B
Spanish B
Dutch B
English B?

French/Spanish/Dutch ab initio*
Almost any other language ab initio*

*Course is designed for beginners (don't know anything about the language)

Group 3 - Social Sciences
History
Geography
Economics

Group 4 - Experimental Sciences
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Environmental Systems and Societies

Group 5 - Mathematics
Math
Math Studies

Group 6 - Arts and Electives
IB Art
IB Theater
IB Music
IB Computer Science
OR ANY COURSE FROM GROUPS 1-4

In addition: each course can be taken at the Standard or Higher level. HL meets more times per 8-day cycle than SL and is generally harder (ie. more material, or more compositions, or more literature, etc.)

Most students take 3 HL and 3 SL, plus an AMDJ (Arts, Music, Drama, Journalism--NOT an elective; elective is separate) course. You aren't required to take any HL classes, and the max is 4, but only if you can make a good case why you should be allowed to take 4.

So now that I've confused you, I'll let you know what cours-I'll take your wallet! Haha no...these are the courses I think I might take:

English A1 Higher
French B Higher (possibly French A2 Standard)
IB Art Higher

Math Standard
History Standard
Biology Standard
AMDJ: ?

I would really like to take Spanish or Japanese ab initio though...we'll see what happens.

OK SO now that I've bored you and all that with IB blahblah and random junk...I dunno. There's not much else to talk about. Oh how about Christmas Break!

So through Christmas I'll be here in DC. As I said, Vaughn's coming down tonight. My grandparents from Florida are coming up on Christmas Eve. Then, the day after Christmas, we all go down to someplace in South Carolina to meet up with my cousins and family. Should be pretty fun.

Ok yeah I really need to end this post I'm even getting bored with it. I think I've done it again. I just don't have time to post as often...

So what have I been up to? Uh...well...Oh!
I came up to Pittsburgh as you all know! That was fun. Let's do that again sometime :)

I'm trying to convince my parents to take me up to Sewickley for Semi, but, sadly, I don't really think that will happen.

I went to a sweet 16 on Friday from 7:30 to midnight. It was this awesome dance party - lots of fun! Some of you have already been Facebook stalking me and have seen the pictures...*shudder* It was really cool though because it was a Devils/Angels themed party, so I went out and got this slick white tie. I'll put pictures up as soon as I get them from my brother...

In other news, my personal project is going pretty well. For those of you who have forgotten (like I would have), the personal project is a long-term interest-based project. For example, mine is learning to paint, and I've been working on it for the past three months. Most of the other students have been working on theirs through the summer.
I've gotten a decent amount of work done, so I'm happy. Would you like to see pictures of what I've done, or is that unimportant?

Hm...Oh. Well, I got a new iPod too. I had birthday money that I felt I should spend. Considering that everything else I wanted to buy, my mom told me "Your relatives are going to be asking about Christmas soon. What should I tell them", a new Nano was the only logical choice (Wow, I've successfully made it sound like I HAD to buy something and that there was this long drawn-out process!)...I really like it. It's shiny and red and it plays music! Haha, that's good enough for me ;)
But yeah, you can read about the new Nanos on Apple's website or Wikipedia. I really don't feel like writing it, heh...

And speaking of Apple and music, I found an iTunes gift card in a pile of already used cards that I for some reason kept. Lucky me! Haha...

Uh, let's see. What else is there...Heh, I really love being able to write in colloquial (everyday) language here. It makes life so much more enjoyable.

[GARRET used Colloquial Language!]
[GARRET's Quality of Life rose greatly!]

Haha...yeah...now I feel lame.
...Too bad :)

Ah. I'm back to the age-old question: What instrument do I want to play?
For a while I've thought the guitar, or preferably the bass guitar, would be that magic instrument. Now I'm having second thoughts...maybe I should pick the piano back up? Or how about I learn something completely CRAZY! But that would mess with my logic: the reason why I'm unsure about the bass guitar is because the kind of people who play it do not equal my persona. But I still think I should play it!

H'ok, moving on. Tomorrow is our last day of school! Then we have break which means...THANKSGIVING! I think this is the first time I've ever been EXCITED for Thanksgiving - and it has nothing to do with no school!...well, maybe partly...
I think it's because I keep seeing ads on TV with good Thanksgiving turkey, and now I want some OM NOM NOM

Hm...Haha, I watched the second half of The Santa Clause on the Disney Channel the other day. Then when it ended I watched last 2/3rds of The Karate Kid, Part II. Very good movie. Lemme give a quick rundown on why it's such a great movie:
It's not cheesy.
The fighting may not seem so real, but it's definitely serious. (i.e. people actually appear hurt, no one's a superhuman, etc.)
No one is all good or all bad.
It's set in Okinawa, Japan.
The music for the calmer scenes is well-composed.

The movie portrays love in a way lost to our society: in the 2/3rds I watched, there was one kiss (I think it may have been interrupted just before, though). Romance did not mean physical attraction or sex. It meant wanting to spend time with that person and wanting to protect them.

That's what I call a quality movie. That's just my opinion; to each his own.

What else is there to talk about...hm. Well. Here's a message for each of you who reads this.

Tom: Keep talking to me. It's fun and it keeps me away from homework.

Krista: I haven't talked to you in so long! We should totally have a late night/early morning chat while I'm supposed to be doing a project! Haha...do we dare try to name all 150 Pokemon again? HAHAHA YES

Alex: ALEX YOUR HAIR IS AWESOME

Chrissy: I'm still in shock that you read my WHOLE BLOG in one night! Haha we hardly talk...ah well, we will sometime. :P

Timmy: Are you still in Spain? How is it? Hope you're having an awesome year.

Have a nice day. - Bon Jovi

The Way Things Work

New drawing on dA! I'm so sorry I've put you all to tears from boredom! I know you count on this blog to actually enjoy life, so I'M SORRY! YOUR POOR PEOPLE!
Well, thank goodness! I have come to resuscitate you with my lovely, exciting life! And it has been indeed exciting...

PSAT
Too easy.

HOMECOMING

Amazing. After school there were 3 games: Varsity Volleyball and the Varsity soccer teams. That was really exciting. If you check Facebook soon (Krista, GET A FACEBOOK FOR ME!), I *may* change my picture to one from after the games. So I've discovered it's actually very fun and entertaining to go to soccer games after school. Here, people actually want to go to games. At Sewickley I never got that feeling, but whatever, I don't like comparing.

After the games there was a free dance at 7:00. It was lots of fun, too! I was one of the earliest people there (most people didn't come till after 7:30 or 8:00, poop on them), and at first it was kind of boring. As people started to arrive, all the guys (except me and the other new guys X[) clumped together against a back wall. Every five minutes you would look over and see them at the other side of the wall. Then another five minutes and they were back to their starting place. In short: they wouldn't dance. I'm just too cool to clump and not dance ;)

After a while about 85% of the 10th graders made a giant, amoeba-like blob and slowly began dancing. The other 15% either didn't dance or was cool - the cool group was where I was. We were the ones who legit enjoyed ourselves and had a lot of fun. Too bad about the other guys... >)_>)

Anyway, to wrap this up, Homecoming was really great. I gave up on having no life and did something with myself. And to think I wasn't going to go ;)

SCHOOL

School's been going pretty well. Last week was pretty rough, though. Monday was a major history test that I needed to do well on (and sort of did...better than last time). Tuesday I had two English projects due and I was supposed to have a math test. Our math teacher is so cool, though, that he postponed the test because (he's the coach) the Girls Varsity soccer team won! SO that was pushed back until Thursday or Friday. On the topic of test dates, I've found a lot of teachers, if there's a test date issue with part of the class, will give you a choice between two days. That means that each one of us can pick when we want to take the test, not just as a whole class. Pretty cool, pretty cool. :) So I took that math test Friday, Halloween, and I'm 99% sure I got EVERYTHING RIGHT. I checked my work, plugged things back in, all that. I think I got a perfect. But that was just part of my Halloween... ;}

THE BEST HALLOWEEN EVER

Friday. Friday Friday Friday. Haaaaalloween. Costume and candy day. Friday, Halloween.

I painted my costume Thursday night. Friday was showtime. As my mother drove the van up the drive to the school, I saw that no one was dressed up - I was. Crap. Crap crap crap. Hooooly Xizor. What do I do if I'm somehow mistaken? What if no one dressed up?
But they had to. People were telling me what they were going to dress up as. But-But maybe they meant for tonight! Crap, what do I do?
Oh wait! Someone said she wasn't wearing her costume to school so I wouldn't see it. It sounded like she meant too bad I can't! Oh...maybe she didn't mean that! Maybe...maybe she meant she wasn't GOING to! CRAAAAAP!

We arrived at the top of the drive. Still no one dressed up. SHIZZZNNIIIT. WHAT DO I DO. I had a change of clothes, but I still wasn't sure. I get out of the car and the traffic guy (or whatever he is) kind of half-smiled, half-laughed. OH MY GOODNESS WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! Well, my mom had told me earlier "Rock that costume!", so I guess that's all I can do!...right?

As I walked to the building with our lockers (the Carriage House), STILL no one had a costume on. I should have known...I turned toward the door nervous as heck to be the only one who dressed up. As I got closer, I could see through the glass - people had costumes! I opened the door and saw down the hallway on either side people who had dressed up. Hooray! Immediately people reacted to my costume too: "Cool!" "Wow Wally! Nice costume!" "Wallace, that's so cool!" "Dude, he's got some comic book action going on!"

SWEET. TOTAL SUCCESS. I really did rock that costume! Not once for the rest of the day did I feel self-conscious about wearing it - skillzzzz. Now one sec, lemme go get my dad's camera and take those pictures off of it...brb

Here they are!

I AM TWO-FACE.

If you're wondering how I did that, I painted an old suit ;)
So I totally rocked the costume. Then I rocked out.

COLDPLAY

I went to the Coldplay concert on Halloween. It was amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures, and all I can really say is that it was so much fun. You know, it's kind of hard to describe concerts, isn't it? What can you say? You really just had to be there...

So as you can see, life really is interesting. Worth living, isn't it. ;)

Oh, and look up Xizor, why don't you. :]

Thank you all for your lovely comments!

When Plans Fall Down.
--It was 12:30, or 1:00, or later, or something. I don't know the time, but it was late. The door opened, but I remained still. My vision was hazy at best, and it was dark. A figure appeared in the doorway. A strained, tired, eerily cheerful voice softly called out, "Garret. Garret." What do they want? What could they possibly want to do now? Please just leave me alone!
But that's not how they work. They get what they want - there are almost no conditions.
"Look who's here for you."
A new silhouette appears, close to the cold bed. It isn't one of the regulars, not like the old man who sometimes comes. Who is it?
As I look up, something strikes me about his head, and it clicks in mine.
Curly hair - Vaughn!
Vaughn came down to visit! YES! I thought Mom was waking me up so dad could say goodnight, but this is much better.
I had talked to Vaughn a couple hours before, and he told me how he has almost a week of no classes. When I asked what he was going to do, he said he'd be biking and crap. I found out the next morning he meant biking in DC.--

Vaughn drove 4 hours on Friday starting at like 9:00 to come down to DC. Pure awesomeness. He stayed through Wednesday, which was great. It was even better because it was a surprise visit!
And then my grandparents came too! So everyone was in DC! Tons of fun.

DC

DC is one of the best cities and one of the worst cities. You can understand partly why DC is great; there's so much to do! There are monuments, museums, the Metro, buses to ride, places to go! But there's more. There's diversity, culture, places to eat, small shops to visit, livability, there's life.

But DC has a bad side. I'm not talking about the crime or the homeless. I'm talking about what some people have to do to live here. Children start going to daycare at outrageously young ages. Both parents have to work so much. There are more people with nannies than with dogs. There are probably a large number of people, foreigners especially, who do not fully understand how everything works in DC. Life in DC for many people is very stressful and full of work, and their children are raised by teachers and nannies. I find that kind of sad.

Pens-Caps at Pittsburgh

So I actually watched the Penguins-Capitals game the other night. The Pens were destroying the Caps 3-0 for most of the game, but then what happened? The Caps totally came back and tied the score. Then, as the game was nearing its end, there was a tricky shot made by the Caps. It went toward the net but shot back out so quickly it was unclear what happened. The shot went into review. It turns out it didn't hit the outer post (like some were hoping), but that it actually hit the post in the middle of the goal. Tricky. It counted, and the Caps won 4-3. Hmm.

What I can't decide is if that's good or bad. I live in DC, but I used to live in Pittsburgh. I never really got excited about the Pens until the end, but then again I'm not really thrilled by the Caps yet either...Who do I like?

PSAT & Homecoming

I take the practice PSAT tomorrow morning at 8:15. Three hours of testing. UGH. But that then leads to...homecoming! I wasn't originally going to go, but now I am. Should be pretty fun, but the last dance I went to (Semi) sucked. So we'll see. Although a dance at this school might actually be ok.

Aiyaaah! One mooore thing!

Last thing, I promise. Well, no I don't. Uh...nevermind then.
So I stayed after school and watched a WIS soccer (I actually prefer calling it football though) match. I actually ended up enjoying it. Good for me, right? The reason why I bothered writing this is because I don't think I've EVER gone to a school game at any school, unless I was in it or it was my brother's. What I mean is I've never been to a game just to go to it and have fun. I'm so lame...it's kind of sad. But I've discovered that *gasp* they're actually quite fun. I want to go to the next one! Hooray...

Well, that's all folks! I'll have more after the practice PSAT and homecoming tomorrow, but it might be Sunday. We'll see what happens.
Goodbye, world.

New, Second Blog; ETC

I'm thinking about creating a secondary blog for "Where Plans Fall Down". How does that sound? I may also start putting up other things too. It might just turn into literary arts blog, or whatever the hell it would be called without sounding too uptight and crappy.

My thoughts on this:
1) I'm often unsure whether I want to update WPFD or write a normal blog post. This solves that.
2) Distinguishes types of posts more easily.
3) Allows for more creativity and other mediums.
4) Motivates me to update both and continue drawing?
5) I don't have to update WPFD as much if it's secondary. (I'm a lazy ass)

Sound good? Lemme know.

I got a really low grade on my history test. Maybe I should have studied...

I'm watching Iron Man again tonight! Turns out Giant (note: not Giant Eagle) has the RedBox DVD stuff too. I have a strange feeling the companies are related.

I need a direction in my life SORTA! I need to find an instrument, a sport, a club, an activity, a something that I actually do with my life. Lemme play some of my ideas off of my lovely audience of 3 people +/- 1 person (uncertainty).

Instrument: I could always pick up the piano again, we'll see.
Guitar
BASS guitar

Sport: This is going to be much more difficult; not because I can't play sports, but because I haven't in a couple years. Dammit SciOly and SA!
I'm thinking basketball, preferably JV. And that's it.

EDIT: NOT QUITE! Some martial art would be great too! :)

Club: I'm already in the lit. arts magazine club, Page. Good enough.

Activity: Seriously, what the f- else is there besides these? If you can think of something, hoorah for you. I guess a hobby would count, but it seems I have enough of those, especially those that don't go anywhere (drawing, blogging, thinking of ideas I never go through with)

Damn I suddenly want something with duck sauce. Why does this happen to hungry, growing children?!

Well anyway, I hope no one minds if I start saying damn or dammit some now. This post was a little damn-heavy, sorry. I'm just saying for general use (I feel so b-b-b-b-b-bad now)...

Well I really should move on with my life...oh wait. Blogging IS my life. Crap. Time to get married? That would really give me a life fast...O_O

Whatevs, screw it. There currently is no definition for "marked invasion" other than a possibly-existing medical def'n. Now, I want it to mean something. So tell me, what do YOU think a "marked invasion" is/means? I'm curious to hear your thoughts!

POO. So Sports Day was postponed until spring due to "construction" or some load of Xizor like that. We can't have Sports Day on the field, no, but every PE class can have class out there! STUPID SPORTS DAY POSTPONEMENT DECIDERS! Gah! And I even bought a pink shirt for it (I think I'll put it on and take a picture for you all since "krista" [if that is his real name] wants me to...)! But whatever. Spring *might* be better. Might.

So would more "Where Plans Fall Down" be welcome? If it would be, I'll write more. I've already got ideas churning at the hands of the Amish boy in my head. These scenarios will be based upon true stories from my life. As a note, the title is creatively crafted to coincide with my clever, confounding mind. These scenarios, and the whole they create (Where Plans Fall Down: My Mindful Friend Lives Mindfully) is written solely for the author's enjoyment and the enjoyment of the, albeit limited, interested audience. Shall we dance?

SCENARIO ONE: The Alley; Ah the Rain

As I stepped into the alley, the scene was set.

Of course I have to take the trash out when it's creepy...Then again, if I had just done it earlier when I was asked...
Carrying the trash bag and thoughts of murder, I bravely walked on. When I looked down, I saw the frightening shadows of trees blowing moderately in the wind. If I looked up, I saw the eerie orange street light and dark leaves blowing across them. At left was the garage and the unfamiliar joined outline of the four or five trash cans. Fine, two of them were recycling. Still creepy.

I managed to maintain my cool at 11:30 in a dark, rainy alley to put the trash in the can. That's when I had to turn around. Everything is always goes smoothly until you turn your back to the enemy. As I started to slowly walk back, I resisted the urge to nervously look back. However, whenever you resist one thing, another always pops up. Since I wasn't looking back, I began to accelerate as I walked toward the sidewalk. When I reached the sidewalk I could look down the alley, and I did. Nothing.
Wow, what is wrong with me? There's clearly nothing there. I was just down there!
When I got to the "home stretch", the last little bit up to the front door - hoo boy! That's when I ran. I had gotten the heebie-jeebies being so close to the door, and I high-tailed it out of there. I just barely survived an attack on my life by nothing!

Time jump: The next day
As I walked, Major spotted them first. The enemies had converged at the crossroads and were prepared. Three, no four, maybe even five of them, all sitting in the trees ready to ambush us. They saw that we saw them however, and quickly understood that since they could no longer ambush, they would lose. The squirrels had given up.

Time jump: Thursday, after school; the day before the alley
It had been raining on and off all day. Then, as we all were waiting to go home, the sun broke up with the sky, and the sky couldn't handle it. It poured.

It rained. Such a wet, cold, shivering experience of pleasure. The rain always comes, the rain always goes. But the rain doesn't always wash down our barriers. It did. It rained.

We were a smaller group now; people had been slowly dwindling away as their rides came, or as they left for meetings or sports. There was an awning several inches from us, but no one wanted to leave the group. So we stayed. In the rain. A group. We chatted, starting a conversation that never had any aim (that's the best kind). What we were didn't matter, only who we were. The rain is good at stripping away our identities, good at freeing ourselves from possession. Good job, rain. It's only been four weeks, and yet it's already been four weeks. An awkward time, I'll admit. Superficial friendships are a necessity, and yet they are hated. So confusing...
The rain had done its job though - now I just wait for the results. Life should be done grading my test soon, I guess. For now, all I can do is, like others in countless different forms, wait. I'm just gonna tough it out.
Me: thanks rain
Me: see you
Me: lylas
Me: bye

THIS BLOG IS NOT DEAD

This blog should never die.

So yeah, school is really cramping up my life. Poo. Less time for blog/computer/fun/life. Damn.
So yeah, sorry I haven't updated in 10 days (read: FOREVER). I don't even really know what to say...
Ugh if anything this post is turning into a "Garret is still alive and so is this blog" post. That sucks. I need something to write about.....

Oh, here's something I guess. Mr. Vaughn Wallace and Ms. Alexandra Bailey came down to DC this weekend. That was fun. We didn't really "do" much, just mostly walked around...Alex left earlier today, Vaughn leaves tomorrow. I'm staying.

So yeah, Vaughn came home sick with a fever. I think I caught it, but I don't have the magic fever that will keep me out of school. But that's not why I want a fever. At the risk of sounding like some crazy psycho who has mental disorders, I'm going to say this: I miss the feeling of having a fever. I've forgotten what it's like to feel all warm then get the chills. I want to experience that again. In fact, I feel sorry for Tom Cruise and his "immunity" to illness. Hah. Sucks to be him. He doesn't get to really live. Illness and death are part of life, and if you were to eliminate one of them from your life, you may as well embrace the other forever; give up illness, go ahead and take death; give up death, better increase how much illness you get - otherwise your life is as boring as living in nothing. Savvy?

Heh heh heh...I watched some of POTC 2 and most of the first. I just couldn't watch the whole things though. Ah well. Still good. Speaking of movies, I want to see all 6 Star Wars movies in a row sometime. I just don't know where that time is going to come from.

Oh, I found something cool out. For those of you who both use iTunes and regularly go to Starbucks: next time you go to Starbucks, pick up a Song of the Week card. Then go home and get your free iTunes download. I've discovered that's a good way to find good new music and experience different styles of music you may not listen to otherwise. I love it. Maybe you will too.

So Sports Day (read: Field Day for older kids) is this Friday. I'm on the Pink team. Hooooow fun. I had to buy a pink shirt because, heck, I don't own one! So I figured if I'm buying one I'm buying a shirt I'll wear again. I picked one that I thought I might wear again: it's a shirt that says in white letters "REAL MEN WEAR PINK". Pretty fly. [Did I really just say something was "fly"? Yes, yes I did.]

So...you may have noticed that my posts are fewer and longer. I'm happy with that. Are you? If not, I can try to update more. The only troubles with daily or regular updates: 1) I feel obligated to post, and 2) I don't have as much to say.
On the contrary, irregular posting can turn my blog into a massive spam dump. But I think I'll stick with this for now, unless of course all 3 or 4 of you who read this don't like that. Just lemme know, or don't because I usually don't get replies when I ask for them, yet when I don't I get 2358798659649917247243907534 replies. So whatevs.

I'm officially out of things to say...wait not yet. School! Change in routine: Mom drives me to school in the morning, and I usually walk home. Fun! Oh and I brought Major after school one day and EVERYONE loved him. YES! SCORE FOR ME AND THE DOG! Oh! And I wrote my two rough drafts for the school newspaper. I don't really know if they're any good, but I feel content that I'm part of a Journalism class. And uh...oh. I'm actually learning in French. Weird. And Bio still sucks. And and and and...uh...yeah.

Hope you're all pleased with this megapost.
This is Garret Wallace (Gart, GWW, Gary, Wally, Wallmaster, Wallynator, Gar, Gargar, haha E-callaw, and all those good names) SIGNING OFF. lol newscast...

School Update time!

So I noticed from questions from this person who goes by the name of "Krista". This person is clearly acting under the identity of an generic unknown such as to retain his/her anonymity. If you have found that your safety and security depend on the secrecy surrounding your identity, yet also feel the explicit need to reveal your true self to me for want of connection or private talk, you may do so. Contact me privately at wallynator@gmail.com.

So, I will now respond to said questions from "Krista". Let me begin.

Q: "so you said you had 5 hour-long periods per day, do you just like not have every class every day?"
A: Correct. I only have 5 classes a day, meaning therefore I could very well have a lesser number of academic classes than art classes.

Q: "do you only have five hours of school plus lunch, or how does that work?"
A: School begins promptly at 8:15 A.M. with our Homeroom meeting. Then the day continues with the first three periods, lasting from 8:30 to 9:30, from 9:35 to 10:35, and from 10:40 to 11:40. Then all students go to Lunch from 11:40 to 12:35. Then we end the day with Periods 4 and 5, lasting from 12:40 to 1:40 and then from 1:45 to 2:50. The day ends here at 2:50.

Q: since math classes are not divided by topics, does everybody in a grade take, like, the same course? and what do they call the courses?
A: No, not precisely. All students in grade 10 take similar math courses, but depending on the teacher the speed and/or difficulty level changes. Each course is simply called "Math".

If you find yourself with any further questions, simply post them here. I will answer all questions presented before me, as long as they are appropriate and able to be answered by myself. Thank you for your time reading this post.

</annoying over-fancy voice that over-complicates everything said>

Ok, so lemme give you an update on school. Obviously, today is Thursday, but did you know...today was H day! I've survived my first cycle! Tomorrow it's back to A day. Here's my schedule for tomorrow, if you're interested:

Math
French
PE
LUNCH
Journalism
SPORTS DAY ASSEMBLY (normally History)

SPORTS DAY?!!!???!!!!11?!/!/?!!??!??!?!!!!! WHAAAAT?!
Oh yeah. Field Day for big kids.
So the assembly takes place of my History quiz. But more importantly, it goes over Sports Day (w00t) and gives us some clue of what we're doing. They put up a massive list of who is on what color team. The teams have kids from all grades, 6-12, so it should be very fun. Now go on, guess what color I am......I said guess!

...Pink.

Bleh, not that I have anything against pink, but I seriously don't want to wear it. Just no.

But moving on. So I've learned Life Skills is a repeat of last year, Bio has a bunch of carry-over information (stuff I've already learned that they're learning for the first time), and French actually isn't so so bad. Goody.

So that's all I really have to say. Woop-di-do.

A note to "Krista": I love your idea, but I think I'm a little confused. This is what he/she said:

"you could use your design tech and 2D art skills to create a model of it!
then in your essay you could write about how you're an active member of the exclusive PokeMafia and are using this project to raise awareness about everyone's favorite POCKET MONSTERS!"

I get the essay part, but what do you mean by creating a model of it? Like a 3D model of my own P world? Cuz that would be sick.

DAMN these posts are getting long...

School at WIS! (MEGA SUPER LONG)

This is much too late. I fail. But it is school.

In case you didn't you know or forgot, I go to the Washington International School (WIS): website. We follow the International Baccalaureate program (IB), and there are about 55 students in the grade.

I suppose I'll start off with my schedule...A note about that. The scheduling system is very different, with 5 hour-long periods a day. Also, you can forget ALL about rotation and revolution. They're byebye. There are eight days (A-H) that we cycle through. Example: Monday - Friday = A, B, C, D, E; Next Monday - Friday = F, G, H, A, B
Make sense? Anyway, here be my classes:

Math: Unlike SA, WIS does not divide math classes by topic. Each year all topics are covered with increasing complexity and difficulty.

--Math has been pretty good so far! I've only had two classes, but they've been pretty good. I think next class we're moving on from review, oh no, so I'll update later.

English: Just your standard English course...We've started reading The Crucible by Arthur Miller - it's not too bad so far. Oh, this class is with my homeroom. Some classes are like that.

-- English is going well. The teacher is the only one on the new internet system, which is really cool. Teachers can make blogs, start forum discussions, have their own WIS wiki thing - VERY cool! As for the actual class, it's very standard. Nothing really special or different. Just imagine your English class except with a different teacher, different students, a new room and building, and a different curriculum. See, just like yours.

History: History at WIS has a completely different focus (I think) than Euro or World Civs. It's more world-wide oriented, but not really. We're mainly concerned with the 1800's through World Wars I and II, then on to the aftermath. Not too different, but *crap my mom just texted me, she wants me to go to bed* it feels like it has a new direction. Might just be me...

--The history teacher is crazy. Then again, most of mine have been (Sadd, Styperk, now Huff...), so I should be used to it. Here's a list of things she does that you shouldn't, should you ever become a high school history teacher:
o She calls us "children".
"Children, children! Quiet when someone else is talking!"
o She openly insults her husband, although I don't think she means to.
"You know, I was talking the other night when my husband stopped me and told me he was getting confused. He asked if I could state the topic then continue each time I switch topics. After 20 years, don't you think my own husband could understand me?" Uh...yes?
o She looks weird.
...So that's history.

French: French and other foreign languages are treated very seriously at WIS. The teacher speaks only in French, unless she absolutely has to speak in English. We have serious homework and serious classwork. Serious course.

--French is no longer a joke. DAMN. I miss SA French. I liked having a joke class. Oh well...Nothing else to say.

Bio: Bio is just like last year's bio. Mostly new stuff but some review material. I'm running out of things to say about these classes...

--Bio seems kinda boring, but nowhere near as boring as Travis. Thank goodness.

Physics: So I had to pick 2 sciences. I chose bio because I've already done some of it last year, and then my parents told me physics would be better than chem. We'll see.

--Mr. Chow. Yeah. That's the physics teacher. He has a funny accent sort of. Wow. Yeah, this is the class where I will pay the least attention, laugh the most, and maybe learn the least. Today someone got me distracted at the beginning of class and I had uncontrollable laughter for the rest of the period. I had NO CLUE what was going on - it was that bad.

Art 2D: This is REAL 2D art. I really, really loved Dr. Edward's class, but this is totally different. I'm glad to have a change, but I also miss drawing all the time. Now we're actually exploring the thought behind art and all kinds of different mediums.

--Coooool.

Design Tech: This is like a tool/simple machine-type class. The new textbooks have all these pictures of machines and all this stuff. People generally like it though, so maybe it'll be cool.

--I've never been much of a tool person. We'll see how this goes.

Life Skills: This is almost the exact same class as last year. Darn.

--The teacher told us she was on substances. She meant like coffee and medicine, but you could tell she was clearly on drugs. No questions about it. Druggie.

PE: I'm not writing anything. It's PE, what did you expect?

--It's PE.

Journalism: Journalism is for those interested in writing articles for the school newspaper, the International Dateline. I don't know the chances of our articles getting in, but it's fun so far.

--My first article is going to be about Apple's "Let's Rock" event tomorrow. Rumor and some evidence says they're announcing a new Nano. Looks totally sick. And I'm covering it!

So those are all my classes. Except lunch. The cafeteria food is a lot like Sewickley's, except I would actually eat it, and I do. hooray.

So the biiig difference this year is the Personal Project. Every student has to do it, there's no way out of it, even new kids who have had like half the time to work on it. But beside that. The Personal Project [I refuse to call it PP because its NOT! That's something else :)] is a long-term project that has to do with things you're interested in. You can create something (ie. model, art, etc.), you can help in the community, you can do all sorts of things. You have to work on it for like 30 hours total, and then you write a report on it and present your final product+report at a big ol' fair. Sounds hard, but I don't think it will be too bad. I think I'm going to do a sick drawing of something for mine, but I don't know yet. Any suggestions anyone? (I know someone will say P!) I open.

WOWZAH. Now that I've written all that, it's time for me to go to bed! Have fun trying to take in ALL that info about my new school...I'll try to start that story soon but we'll see if I have time. Daaaang this is gonna be tough.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Doreen Gentzler: In other news, a teenage boy, Garret Wallace, continues to have a residual cough. Experts believe the cause of this prolonged cough past illness is the result of lack of sleep and decrease in oxygen intake due to non-regular fluticasone propionate inhalance. Fluticasone propionate, otherwise known by the product name Flovent HFA, is Garret's twice-daily preventative inhaler, and it has been reported in recent times he has failed to use it as prescribed by his doctor.

Jim Vance: It should be noted that Garret's current medical status is due to his own disregard of his health. Our reports indicate that, within the past week or longer, he has been intentionally keeping himself awake at late hours despite warnings from his parents. In addition, Garret has been rather lethargic in recent days due to his previous illness, but now continues to stay in this state in disregard of the health implications of such a life. We can only hope that we will see a change in Garret's attitude about himself and his health in days to come.

Doreen: Absolutely, Jim. I have 6 minutes to finish this so that it is ONE WEEK. So here I go.

The past week hasn't been great. I've been sick. Not fun. 11:55. I've still got a cough but I'm doing much better. Hooray hooray.

I've been watching the Olympics. They're awesome! If you aren't already watching them, WATCH BABY WATCH! This is the first time I've ever *11:56* cared to watch past the opening ceremony (which was SUH-WEET!) so I'm all fired up about 'em. So many world records being broken, and Michael Phelps is AWESOME MAN! I'm so psyched to see how he does with his super-Olympian goal thing. 11:57.

So yeah 2 minutes remaining till the day is up. GAH HURRYING.

New Star Wars movie coming out. It's cartoonish, not so cool, but its Star Wars so I have to watch it! Comes out Friday the 15th and I will BE THERE! 11:58 ONE MINUTE.

When it turns to the next minute Ima have to hurry so BLAAAAH. I can't think of much else to say so, yeah...just wasting time here.

How is everyone? You likin' PA? Pittsburgh cool enough for you? Well, I think some of you should *11:59* come on down! But that's all I can say for now. As I said, we drove 8 hours the first day and 4 the next to get there. First we stopped by our cousins' house which is pretty sweet. That's where we met up with the grandparents and all (10 of us total). And I met the family bird which I didn't know existed! COOL.

So from there we drove our little caravan an hour to the cabin, which was large and very cool. I wish I could live there...All the kids and Vaughn stayed down in the basement, boys (Vaughn, Josh 12, Aaron 14, myself) in one room and the only girl (Hannah 12) in the other (large cabin, large basement).

The first day we didn't do much but play Super Smash Bros. Brawl and hide and seek. We just hung out, and then we had a picnic in Callaway Gardens. Callaway Gardens is pretty cool. I've been there before, and they've got a bunch of things to do. Check it out sometime.

So now it's Day 2, and it's time for us to celebrate our grandparents' 50th anniversary (IMPRESSIVE!). We went back to Callaway Gardens and swam in the man-made lake for 20 minutes or so, then we drove around looking at houses and stuff. Then the real celebration started. We all got nicer clothes on and went to this fancy restaurant with cool food. Nice place! Vaughn took pictures with this AMAZING lens he rented, and it was just an awesome place. Nice food, awesome setting outside.

When we got home from the restaurant, we had a family celebration. Josh and Aaron performed a funny rhyme thing, my uncle Vaughn played had written his parents a song, my aunt Angie and my mom wrote letters to them, my dad shared some memories, and Vaughn and I each wrote them a note. In the end, my mom presented a scrapbook that she had been working on. The week before she emailed a bunch of my grandparents' friends and family and had them write congrats letters. She put them all in the scrapbook and really surprised her parents. Awesome! Oh and we had cake.

The cousins and I did manage to have a lot of fun. The twins, Hannah and Josh each came up with a personal high five with me, which they LOVED. All of us together played Brawl on the Wii, and we played SO MUCH hide and seek, which was pretty fun given the size of the cabin. I was the bomb at that. I hid cramped under a sink, and in dark, tight spots. I was the master. Then Aaron got out Guitar Hero 3. I was expecting him to be pretty decent, but not amazing or anything considering he's not too good at other video games. And then he started playing. He went straight to Expert and immediately impressed EVERYONE IN THE CABIN with his extreme skill. It was almost inhuman. SCARY GOOD. He blew us all away. Just wow. COOOOOOL.

Oooooooook, well now that I've absolutely filled your heads with unnecessary family junk, I'll talk about the DUN DUN DUN xxx-Ride Home-xxx. We decided we were going to do all 12 hours in one day, which really isn't too bad considering we left at 11:00 or so. We were making decent progress, but then we stopped at a mall for food for an hour. Then we stopped again like 3 hours later, then again after that. We kept losing time everywhere! We even stopped at a Target and shopped a little. Not good. By the time we got home, it was 2 in the morning and we were all bored and TIRED. BLEEEEEEEH. I'm STILL tired now. Yuck.

Well, now I'm back and the next trip isn't until the end of the month when I COME UP TO PITTSBURGH! YEAH MAN! I'M COMING UP! W0000000T!

So yeah...see ya.

Tra La La

I'm leaving for Atlanta today! I get to see the remaining cousins from my mom's side of the family! Hooray fun! Oh and we're going for my grandparents' 50th anniversary! WOWZAH!

So yeah, we're driving 12 hours to get there. We're splitting it up over 2 days, but we're *hopefully* driving 8 hours today, 4 tomorrow. BLEH. Not fun.

Fortunately, I am fully prepared to entertain myself for at least 2 hours or so...I bought some TV episodes from Itunes that I plan to cram onto my Ipod and watch. And I always have music. And I have to write something for my grandparents, too. So I should have plenty to do. :) Ooh! And we're staying in this cool cabin when we get there! Should be pretty awesome! And my cousin is bringing his Wii with GH3 which is even more AWESOME!! W00T!!!

So yeah this summer has been a very cousin-packed summer! Considering I don't really have friends I can hang out with, that's good. Thank goodness for 9 younger cousins! Well actually, 3 are close to my age (13,14,15), 2 are 11-yr-old twins, and then ages 4,6,6, and 8. Not bad. At least I don't have little baby cousins anymore. Or creeper 30-yr-old MARRIED cousins! O_O

So yeah, I'll be back in a few days maybe? Any suggestions? (Comment PLEASE I really don't know what to buy!)

Anyway...Today I was out for 6 hours helping my mom. Major got a shot, we inspected the place where we're boarding him next week, lots of errands for the smelly ol' dog.

Then we checked out our house from our 2nd time living here. I didn't think I would remember anything from it because, even though I was probably old enough to, I didn't find the place important at the time...That was great. I really do remember things about that house!

And then we talked about visiting my old school some time and BAM there were like 50 memories that came back at the same time! AWESOME. Then we ate at my favorite place to eat, The Silver Diner. Guess what - I have memories from there too! WHOO talk about a trip down memory lane (bleh I hate that expression...Oh well)!

So after that I got a haircut at a place my mom went to 9 years ago...so much history here! Now I'm home and I would really like to buy some more music for my Ipod so help me out yall!

Blog Lesson: Commenting 1

For those of you (coughKristacough) who couldn't figure out how to comment, here's a little lesson. Mackinaw Island = no cars, only man-powered vehicles + absolute natural beauty (the kind of place you dream about!)
#2) Some ride when I was younger. All the cousins are finally gone! I'm both happy and sad; sad that they're gone, happy to be FREE!

So yeah, yesterday was rockin' awesome! I started off the day slow, but it soon picked up. From 1:30 to 3:30, I biked NINE miles with Vaughn to my grandparents' house where I met my Spanish cousins for the last time until Christmas or later next year. Then we got a ride home at 5:00 or 5:30 and got some food when it started to POUR. It was raining so much that water was flowing down the streets at a steady pace. Very cool. When we got home, Vaughn and I decided we weren't in such a hurry to get inside. So we (Vaughn) built a dam and we made a *two-inch* deep pool of water under our deck. Playing in the rain isn't just for small children. Mwahahahahaha...

So yeah, I'll add some pictures from the bike ride straight from my phone in a little bit.

BLEH

So yeah. But first I need to find the cable that connects the camera to the computer. That may take a few years.

Yeah so all my cousins leave pretty soon. Megan, Ryan, and Aunt Lisa (Florida) left today, or maybe they're leaving tomorrow, I don't know? Chloe and Nicole (Spain) leave on Thursday. I was bored.

So last night I was up for at least and hour and a half. I have no idea why but it was terrible. I did finally get some sleep, but today was odd. I wasn't tired, but my brain was weird. I didn't know what I wanted to do, eat, say, or anything. I would lay in bed, then get up and think I'd want to get out of bed, then end up going back. BLEH.

So yeah, I bought this game/tool called Jam Sessions for the DS. I read reviews about it and they were generally good, so I thought "Hey, maybe I can learn how to play the guitar or something from this. Seriously, it's only like 15 bucks, why not?" I'll tell you why not: It's good if you already know how to play the guitar. Otherwise, it's pretty useless. Granted it doesn't require any guitar skill to play, but to really get anything out of it, yeah...so I'm disappointed.

So anyway, I'm going to do a bit of a poll:
WHAT WILL I LEARN NEXT?
A) Guitar
B) Japanese
C) Something else--tell me what!

COMMENT TO VOTE!

Me want watch / Family 'nat

So yeah, today I watched one of the newer episodes of Avatar and I REALLY LIKED IT. So I went online and I was like
"Ok, so let's see what I've missed...Wikipedia > Avatar > Episode Guide! There we go!"

Well, I'm finally caught on the first 2 "books". Whoo. Whatever. I really want to watch the new ones that are coming on today and tomorrow and then *GASP* there's a TV MOVIE. But I can't watch that because, well, it's nothing much just, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON. Too bad.

So yeah, enough sounding like a nerd and moving on...

So my cousin Megan has decided to be baptized into our church on Sunday! YES! HOORAY! This is awesome news. I'm happy. She's taking baptism "classes" with my parents and she seems to actually have a desire to join the church! YEAH!

My other cousin, Chloe (the Spanish one who IM'ed a bunch of you a few years ago...X_X), is taking a bunch of classes and stuff. Last week, while I was at Sr. High camp, she was away at Jazz Camp. Apparently she had a recital that I totally missed. :/ Well now this week she's taking guitar classes. I was offered to go and STUPIDLY DUMBLY IDIOTICALLY refused. GAH! I mean, seriously, she gets to borrow an electric guitar and TAKE IT HOME. GAAAAH I WANT TO LEARN TOO!

...Yeah, I really want to learn how to play the guitar. REALLY DO. I'd also like to learn Japanese, but I'll stick with guitar for now...

So yeah, back to nerdiness: it turns out cousin Megan was in a talent show and as far as I know SHE SANG A STAR WARS SONG. OMG. NO WAAAY. So yeah while I'm thinking about it, brb. I need to email my grandpa...

..k back. So anyway I really need to see the videos from Chloe's jazz recital and Megan's talent show. But I gotta go to bed now @_@ goodnight!

--Awesome!

High Roooooooopeeeesss!!!

Yo, as I said before, it's all about the evolu-....I did a high ropes course. (bum bum bum...)
I went shopping with my mom.

We went to Best Buy first, pretty awesome. Looked at games an whatnot.
Then Bed, Bath, and Beyond. SOO much stuff for gullible idiots who get paranoid about their lives...lol.
Oh and then actual Target. Yeah. I like Target.

BUT THEN IT GOT BETTER! (Doo doo doo DOOOOOOOOO! lol LoZ)

I went into Georgetown with Vaughn.

I got dropped off at his new work, The Bike Rack.
Then we went to a bus stop after going to the bathroom in the BIGGEST Whole Foods I've ever seen. I got stared at by some lady. She frowned and when she saw my shirt. As in FROWNED. I don't know why, its just an electronic speech bubble thing with robots inside...

Then we took the bus into Georgetown.
We walked to an underground Chinese restaurant with only one waitress. There's some pretty authentic Chinese decor and junk in there...
We ate, talked about safety in DC lol, and then we left.
We took the bus to the nearest stop and walked home.
Now I'm on the computer!

So yeah today was pretty awesome. AWESOME. I've never wanted to go to camp before, not once in my life that I can recall. So this is just great! Thanks to Deer Park reunion I'm all fired up about going, huzzah!

So reunion was AMAZING...I met a bunch of my parents' old friends and definitely met some new ones in Sr. High. All the cousins from my dad's side of the family were there, which was cool. And Sr. High class was great! And I got a CD...

Well, I'll post again when I get back from camp! See ya!

NOTE: Camp's a week long.
